very nice. i wonder if there are any memorials in green-wood cemetery containing or depicting trees? perhaps they will appear one day as a post called "green-wood cemetery trees" on the Green-Wood Cemetery Trees blog?
There are actually a lot! A log or a tree trunk can symbolize a life cut off or a premature death (as well as membership to the Woodmen of the World). I see it in 19th and early 20th century markers.
